Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Auxiliary is dedicated to the support and promotion of the mission of the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Sacramento, and the spiritual growth of our members and the people of the Diocese of Sacramento. Under the mantle of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, we come together as Catholics joined by our common desire to grow closer to Christ Jesus through prayer, fellowship, and service.

Events & Activities

In the support of our mission to support and enrich the spiritual life of our members, and in support of our fundraising efforts for the Monastery, we have organized the following events and activities.

Prayer on the Mountain

Prayer on the Mountain is a series of talks and prayer that takes place at the Monastery in Georgetown in their St. John Villa. Always on a Saturday, the workshops take place during the Springtime each year. Each program begins with an hour-long talk by a well-known speaker, with prayer, followed by a salad bar lunch.

Fundraiser Luncheon

The Auxiliary Luncheon is held annually to raise funds for the support of the Carmelite Monastery. The Spaghetti Luncheon includes a four-course meal, raffle, and silent auction. Information about the Monastery, the nuns’ lives, and the work of the Auxiliary is shared. This is a really fun event, with an Italian themed decor and music.

Holy Face Devotion

Devotion to the Holy Face and Name of Jesus is more needed in the world today than at any earlier time. The Auxiliary promotes this devotion, in union with the Carmelites of Georgetown, which is dedicated to the Holy Family and to St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face.
